Press Release - Solvay Names LTL Authorized Compounder of Radel®

LTL is an authorized compounder of Solvay's Radel® polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) resin
MORRISVILLE, PA, April 18, 2012 – LTL Color Compounders Inc. and Solvay Specialty Polymers USA, L.L.C. announced today that LTL has been named an authorized color compounder of Solvay’s Radel® polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) resin. This is the second product brand Solvay has authorized LTL to compound.  In June 2011, LTL was named an authorized color compounder of Solvay’s AvaSpire® polyaryletherketone (PAEK) resin.

LTL will compound and market pre-colored resin based on Radel PPSU primarily for the medical industry. “LTL welcomes the addition of Radel brand PPSU to its rapidly growing medical business which comprises the ColorRx® line of proprietary and custom medical grade compounds.  We are very pleased that Solvay has licensed us to sell colored Radel PPSU compounds  as this reflects the high level of confidence that Solvay has in our ability to satisfy the demanding requirements of the medical market” said Phil Dix, LTL's medical marketing and development manager.

Maria Gallahue-Worl, Solvay Advanced Polymers’ global business development manager for healthcare said, “We’re excited about this affiliation with LTL because it provides an important new channel to reach the fast-growing medical market with custom-colored Radel resins.  LTL will sell neat and glass-filled grades of colored Radel PPSU.”

Radel PPSU delivers the highest performance of Solvay’s sulfone type polymers, offering better impact resistance and chemical resistance than polysulfone (PSU) and polyetherimide (PEI). The high heat resistance and excellent hydrolytic stability of Radel PPSU make it an excellent choice for hot water fittings and medical devices requiring repeated steam sterilization.

LTL has been certified to ISO 9001 since 2000 and to ISO 13485 since 2009, and was the first compounder in North America to achieve ISO 13485 certification.
